One of only four women admitted to the French Academy. She knew everybody, from Byron to Catharine the Great. Her lively language guides the reader through Revolutionary Europe. Illustrated. Very good condition. Slight sun fading to spine of jacket, now protected in mylar. Originally published in 1903. George
