In a vintage where so many wines already appear tired

it is built on its minerality with very fine intensity to the medium weight plus flavors that also culminate in an impressively long but still quite compact finish

yet the balance is impeccable

cumin and cardamom

Jacques Prieur, Clos Vougeot Vintage:2013 crushed stone and black licorice(from a 1. 19 ha parcel of vines at the bottom of the slope; 35% whole clusters). This too is exceptionally ripe with jammy black pinot fruit and warm earth scents that are trimmed in a hint of prune. There is better verve to the large scaled flavors that are not quite as dense as those of the Bressandes but do offer good power on the very firm finish that is again shaped by relatively grippy and inelegant tannins.
