Last year from barrel this was restrained to the point of being almost mute but that is no longer the case as the nose is now overtly expressive with very ripe and again borderline exotic aromas of yellow orchard fruit along with the more classic scents of citrus

Stylistically the 2007s remind me of the 1997s in terms of their opulence

Haut Batailley Size:12x375ml the 1999 has held upThe 1986 Haut Batailley has matured in splendid fashion. The nose is engaging, a mixture of red and black fruit, gravel and spice. Juxtaposed against the 1996 Haut Batailley I find more energy in this, despite being ten years older. The palate is medium bodied with fine tannin, earthy black fruit with good acidity.
