34 ha in Grand Maupertuis
A well-cut Champagne that's vinous in style
and although I still bought a financially irresponsible amount of wine
the 2017 Syrah Sur Echalas Vineyard wafts from the glass with aromas of ripe blackberries and plums compounded by elegant tones of smoked strawberry and black cherry
Pungent and ripe aromas are comprised by notes of resin
Chris Ringland, Hoffman Shiraz other_regions 34 ha in Grand MaupertuisReleased ahead of the 2009, reflecting the even, early vintage, the 2010 could not be more different. It's bursting with blackberry fruit on steroids joined by parma violet florals, followed by savoury layers of prune, liquorice and smoked meat. Dark, juicy and expressive, it has a very persistent salty, mineral finish supported by ripe, powerful tannins. It spent 62 months in 100% new French oak hogsheads.
